Hi - I'm Wendy Rose Ellison, writer and head idea chef for CanningBee. I'm a communicator by profession, but when I discovered the art of jam-making over a decade ago, I started a new hobby as a food preservationist. And then, in order to meet other food preservers and steal their recipes, I became a certified Master Food Preserver for the University of California Cooperative Extension program.
Working with citrus and experimenting with old-fashioned or unusual flavors are some of my specialties. I also love collecting zany old cookbooks (which are often featured in CanningBee) and competing and judging at local fairs. I'm proud to be a native Californian and I'm grateful for the climate, heritage, and bounty of our state.
